Audition

I saw an ad in the paper today,
A guitar man, that wants to play
Must be serious, must be kind,
Must love music all the time

I called the number, they asked my name,
wanted to know could I play their game
I said I could play any tune
Audition today, starts at noon.

Audition again, same old line.
Audition again, dont waste their time
Audition again, just give me a chance
I dont sing well, cant even dance.

I walked in the place and all around
guitar people, playing thier sound
Staring at them all, for many an hr
Could I absorb all their power

When it was over, I waited till then
I stood on my feet, and played for them
I came out of the shadows, turned on the light
my sound fullfilled an incredible sight.

I played with my heart, and soul at my side
thier eyes looked weary, but ready to ride.
They looked at each other, and said Im their man
And asked me to play, all over the land.

I tried not to smile, or shed a tear
I knew in my heart this was the year
I waited this long to get this far,
And maybe some day, Ill be a rock star.
